Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Our Jubilee Harps business/ministry began in May 1998 with a single harp made as a favor for a friend to help celebrate Israel's 50th Year of Jubilee in our church.
What is your primary product or service?
We specialize in the production of Solid-bodied King David Hardwood harps, and our Acoustic Watchman harps. We offer many customizations to our harps when requested.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was formerly trained as a Biologist/Chemist with 25 years if service at Bristol-Myers as a Scientist. A fifth year of company downsizing eliminated my position with the company, and opened the way to my new career...making 10-string Davidic harps for current day Levites in God's kingdom!
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our initial mission and goal was to create and supply quality 10-string harps as a business ministry. It evolved out of a personal request, a blessing for a friend, and not as an adventure to provide an income. Every Jubilee Harp customer has 30 days to evaluate their new harp in their home, and if it doesn't bless them it can be returned for a full refund. We don't want anyone to feel trapped in their purchase, and each harp was created to fulfill its roll as an anointed instrument of praise...not to be stored away or shunned by an uncapped owner. Our Customer Service provides personal and knowledgeable assistance for not only our customers, but to anyone who feels a calling to own and play a 10-string harp, and has no understanding as to why or how to do that. Our initial mission, and goal, continues to guide us in His good graces.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We continue to manufacture handcrafted 10-string harps at our sole facility in Evansville IN. We don't have any current plans to expand our production since all of our harps are made at our Evansville location, by hand and one harp at a time All of our business is based on our Internet presence, by word of mouth referrals, and by divine intervention. To minimize overhead costs, we don't maintain any retail stores under our trade name, Jubilee Harps, but we do have Authorized Distributors on a global basis.
Provide detailed directions to your location
If a customer prefers to meet with us to see and experience our harps on a personal basis and discuss a purchase, we can usually arrange a time and location for a meeting to occur. We discourage on-site visits to preserve our private life, so individuals are asked to contact us directly to set up a meeting at a time and place that is convenient for all.
What type of payments do you accept?
We understand our customers' diversity and budget concerns, so a customer can pay for their order with any major credit card, money order, check, or by using our ZIP Layaway (Zero Interest Payment) Plan. Interested customers are asked to contact our office toll-free at (866) 447-4277 to pay $50 down, the minimum amount required to open a ZIP plan. All future payments are "customer-driven", and can be set up to suit the customer's wishes through our office. The customer can decide when, how often, and the amounts they want to pay. Every payment is answered by an e-Invoice that shows the content, payment status, and resulting balance of their ZIP layaway account. When their balance reaches $0.00, their order enters our Production Processing List. Once the order is on this list, a harp takes 2-8 weeks to be completed for shipping.
Which areas do you service?
Our travel schedule changes each year, but we have displayed our harps and shared our ministry at a variety of Judaic, Prophetic, Home School, Harp Society, and other church-sponsored conferences in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, Lousiana, Texas, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Indiana, and Minnesota in the US, and were blessed to attend the ICEJ in 2009 during the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem accepting their invitation to come and display our harps, and share our ministry in their market place! We also honor requests to make presentations at special venues, or to provide spiritual comfort through the anointed music from a Davidic harp in special instances. As an Internet-based business/ministry, we ship our harps to any global destination that is serviced by USPS, UPS, or FEDEX with fully insured service. Call us for assistance.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Our company Jubilee Harps, Inc is owned and directed by its original founders, Rick & Mary Woods, and supported by friends and family members who share in the continued success and future of our ministry.
What are your hours of operation?
We try to answer our toll-free phone calls M-F 9am to 8pm Central Time, and will cover missed calls and messages as our schedule allows. We can also be reached by direct email: info@jubileeharps.com. Our area observes "Daylight Savings" time changes.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
The best compliment is the most common one we receive, where our harps (and ministry) are applauded by harp owners and others who have experienced their special anointing first hand, and felt the need to share their "unique" experience, the blessing brought to someone's life, and the answer to someone's prayers. These complements are ongoing confirmation that the goals, missions, and products of our ministry, continue to be met or surpassed by the verified quality of our harps, and the highly regarded reputation of our ministry.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
Many verses in the Bible attest to the special attributes, history, and role of the Davidic 10-string harp, but the following verse gave us an inspired and anointed direction for our ministry. According to ancient rabbinical teachings, each note or phrase played by an anointed one on a 10-string biblical harp, was music, a "song" which could be interpreted as a prophecy from the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit). These inspired compositions thus become a "new song" of praise and worship to God, and the belief had been written into the verse: Psalm 144.9 (a blending from various translations) "I will sing a new song unto thee, Oh God; Upon an instrument of 10 strings!
